This class will have a roundtable of political organizers discussing their community work. Representatives from People Power Movement, Yonkers Community Development and Governance Council, CUNY student civil rights attorney Ron MCGuire, and Veronica Phillips-Nickey of United African Movement and John Henrik Clarke House.
There is no additional reading assignment, and you do not need Blueprint for Black Power this week but keep working on securing a place to do your community service work: you’ll need to be settled somewhere by the end of the month. Look at the linked websites for the groups invited. Also, read ahead in Wilson.
Also note that because of the snow day, the syllabus will be shifted ahead one week. I’ll make the changes online, but for March 2nd, we’ll be covering chapter 3 of Blueprint: the reading originally scheduled for Feb 16.
